ICLW - Welcome!

And I forgot to say, to all the ICLW participants: Welcome!!! I look forward to meeting all of you. I would love it if you could drop a comment if you read my blog. With the exception of the lovely Meg, who you can find here, I'm not sure anyone actually reads my blog regularly. It would be great to meet you if you do!

Hi MDZ! Thanks so much for the shout-out (tee hee)!

Poor little Ian. =( I really hope his fever breaks SOON. I can imagine how frustrating it is to watch your sweet baby suffer from an unknown cause. I had forgotten that he had such battles with ear infections. Let's hope this isn't the case again!

To answer a couple of the questions you left on my blog:

1) Sadly, I don't think there's anyone in my family who'd be willing or able to serve as a surrogate. I only have a brother, and my female cousins who would be old enough to even consider the process are all busy starting their own families. My best friend has offered, in the past, to carry for us....but she just had her first baby (who's now 7-motnhs old), and I'm sure she'd want to finish building her family before she even considered acting as our surrogate (trust me, I've bared my soul to her about our current woes, and she hasn't played the "don't worry! I'll be your surrogate!" card). Bah.

2) I know that day-3 embryos can definitely result in real live babies (like Ian!), but my RE is a huge proponent of transferring day-5 blasts.....and I have to agree with him. More and more research is being done these days, and most all of it points to the fact that only the strongest embryos survive to Day 5 (and the strongest embies have the best chance at implanting). My RE's embryology lab is also very state of the art, and they use special cultures that very closely mimic the uterine environment, so embryos have the best chance at survival outside the womb. I could go on and on about this. but I think I've probably already taken up enough space. =)

Thanks for your support!

Well, if my good friend Meg reads your blog, that's a good enough reason for me to read it, too, bc she's as smart as a whip. I heart Meg. She's a good egg.

Anywho, enough about the Megster. Pleased to meet you.

Hi! I read your blog. I'm not sure how I found it - I think through someone else's infertility blog. But - I enjoy reading about your little boy and motherhood and working as I'm an attorney myself with a baby boy. Nice job!
